Ghost Jam! Family Comedy Show

  • Adult Ticket 11 April, 2017

Kids love sounds that go “BOOM!” and ghosts that go “BOO!”
In celebration of the Sister City Relationship between Whitehorse and Matsudo, Sean Murphy presents GHOST JAM! at the Box Hill Community Arts Centre these school holidays.
The show is a hilarious re-imagining of Kwaidan, a trailblazing anthology of Japanese ghost stories. Featuring a soundtrack by multi-instrumentalist Sophie Unsen, Ghost Jam! will enthrall adults and children alike with its pairing of booming music and silly, spooky storytelling.

Beginning in 2015 with development support from the Japan Foundation, Ghost Jam! packs in education with entertainment, serving as a thrilling introduction to music and storytelling traditions fresh to many Western audiences. And with Japan hosting the 2020 Olympic Games, what better time to learn more about the country beyond sushi and Super Mario? Get ready for gasps, giggles and ghosts you won’t soon forget!
Ticket price is per person: Adults $5 and Children $5
Suitable for families with children aged 5-12 years, children 4 years and under will be admitted for free.
This is the second family comedy from Sean Murphy (Edinburgh Fringe, Sydney Opera House). Sean has made people laugh all over the world. Based in Sydney, he has toured shows to the Adelaide and Edinburgh Fringes as well as the Melbourne Comedy Festival and Sydney Opera House. If you haven’t heard of him, your younger relations have: Sean’s been an educator, entertainer and comedy act for thousands of kids and the young-at-heart.

Inspired by the classic tales featured in Ghost Jam! after the show there will be a workshop where kids create their own ghost stories!. This hands-on experience sees teams of kids compete to create their own original ghost story. Loads of spooky fun!
