Mary Delany Paper Collage

This short course is inspired by the 18th Century paper artist Mary Delany. She began to create hundreds of intricate botanically accurate collages of flower specimens at the age of 72! Her art and life is a truly remarkable story.

In this course Roma will introduce you to the art of Mary Delany and will follow her technique of painting paper and using it to create colourful flower collages. Materials included.

Your Tutor

Roma has a Diploma of Art and Design, majoring in painting from Prahran College of Advanced Education. She has worked as a freelance illustrator for several publishing companies and has produced art books which have included writing, illustration and construction. Roma has been a community artist from the mid 1980s, teaching drawing and painting classes to all age groups in primary and secondary schools and in art material suppliers’ workshops. Roma has experience in various artistic styles and mediums. Currently she is experimenting with different effects and formats in the art of papercutting.
